About Me

The Endometriosis Fitness Coach

MORE ABOUT ME

I am originally from Chile. I moved to Brisbane almost 16 years ago and traveled over 16 countries. I speak Spanish, English, basic Italian, basic French, some Japanese, and a few German words, and this year I completed my basic certification in Auslan! (Australian sign language).

My fitness journey started with my dad when I was 12. At the time, he was a long-distance runner. My dad and I did karate and taekwondo together, but running was always our thing. My dad and I ran together until I was in my last year of school, and then I explored cycling and swimming, so triathlons were just a matter of time.

I am not someone just into sports. I don't know a life without it, and I understand that not everyone has the same background or a dad who dragged them around even on the days they didn't feel like it. These days, I call myself a "professional exerciser". I am happy as long as I am moving.

In 2020 I suffered the rupture of a chocolate cyst formation in my right ovary that allowed me to be diagnosed with endometriosis - something I have been trying to be diagnosed with since I was 15 years old, but doctors continued to ignore my research.

I am now an endometriosis stage 4 warrior with two very extensive endo surgeries and excellent recoveries due to the training and lifestyle that I cultivated. I work hard at walking the talk and try to lead by example.

I have learned what is good for my body and prioritise my health.

Strength and Conditioning allow me to manage chronic pain and continue to move without the high impact of running. I continue to run, swim, and cycle, but at shorter distances. Five years I started rock climbing and added more yoga and meditation practices to my activities.

Over the years, my friends asked me to teach people how to live a life where movement was sustainable. I thought that maybe coaching was not my thing, but once I opened that door, I enjoyed every second I spent teaching my clients.

I did my counselling studies first and then I completed my Certificate IV with one of the best schools in Brisbane, the Australian Institute of Fitness and then I did nutritional studies at Endeavour College. I completed my PT practice between Total Fusion and ADAPT Nundah ( S&C specialised in sport and performance), where I continue to train until today. I continued my studies with my Australian Strength and Conditioning Association level 1 certification (ASCA L1). I also did a course in pre and postnatal training, kettlebell, group cycling, and boxing, and now I am studying how to improve rowing technique and endurance training.

I hope I get to train with you and share our stories face-to-face!

All my strength and love,

Tammy.
